OCEANSIDE–One man died and another suffered serious injuries Sunday evening when an Amtrak train struck the two men walking on the railway tracks in Oceanside.
The collision occurred on the railroad tracks nearest Cassidy Street, according to authorities.
An Amtrak train was traveling southbound when two persons were observed walking on the edge of the tracks. The train went into emergency braking, but the train struck the two men. One male was pronounced dead at the scene. The second male suffered serious injuries and was transported to Scripps La Jolla Hospital for treatment.
