San Diego County Crime Stoppers, in conjunction with the San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit and Ronald Harnish’s family and friends, are asking for the public’s assistance to help identify and locate the person(s) responsible for his murder. Crime Stoppers and the family and friends of Ronald Harnish have now increased their combined reward to a total of $7,500.
On December 27, 2006, at about 10 p.m., two male subjects flagged officers down in the 1300 block of Fern Street, claiming to be the victims of an attack. One of the males was suffering from a gunshot wound, and was quickly transported to a local hospital for emergency care. Meanwhile, responding officers found a third victim, later identified as Ronald Harnish, lying in the street two blocks away at 1100 30th Street. SAN DIEGO--San Diego Police Department’s elder abuse detectives are seeking the public’s help to locate and apprehend the suspect responsible for stealing money and gold coins from an elderly victim.
Sometime between October 1 and October 18, Raymond George Wilkins stole $13,000 in cash and Krugerrand gold coins from a 92 year old victim. Wilkins was living with the victim and acting as a temporary caregiver at the time of the theft. [More]
CAMP PENDLETON--The Department of Defense announced the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Lance Cpl. Robert L. Johnson, 21, of Central Point, Ore., died Dec. 20 as a result of a non-hostile incident in al Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to the 5th Combat Logistics Battalion, 1st Combat Logistics Regiment, 1st Marine Logistics Group on Camp Pendleton. [More]

SAN DIEGO--More than 22 big balloons were the star attraction Monday at the 18th annual Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade.
The popular annual event, presented by San Diego County Credit Union, attracted thousands of spectators to Harbor Drive near the Broadway Pier in downtown San Diego.
Festivities included nationwide marching bands from high schools and universities, floats, drill teams, and a procession of balloons featuring Mr. Potato Head, Mighty Mouse, Horton the Elephant, and others. Kermit the Frog served as grand marshal of the parade. [More]
This past weekend more than 300 Israeli Web sites were defaced in a period of 48 hours, said Gary Warner, Director of Research in Computer Forensics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
In a Web site “defacement” a hacker violates the security of a Web server and replaces the original content with his own message. Unlike phishing sites that attempt to defraud, the current round of defacements is strictly propaganda. [More]
