SAN DIEGO–All lanes on Mira Mesa Boulevard/Sorrento Valley Road at Interstate 805 (I-805) will be closed Tuesday through Thursday nights from 9 until 5 the following morning.
According to Caltrans, crews will remove the temporary bridge support system used during bridge widening.
Motorists traveling westbound on Mira Mesa Boulevard will be detoured onto Scranton Road, where signs will direct them to travel westbound on Carroll Canyon Road to Sorrento Valley Road. Motorists traveling eastbound on Sorrento Valley Road will be detoured to Carroll Canyon Road, then northbound on Scranton Road, and back to Mira Mesa Boulevard. Detour signs will be placed near the work area to assist motorists around the closure.
The work is part of Stage 1 of the I-805 North Express Lanes Project. The project is constructing one carpool lane in each direction in the median of I-805 from just north of State Route 52 to just north of Mira Mesa Boulevard. The project will also construct a south-facing Direct Access Ramp (DAR) at Carroll Canyon Road, which will provide immediate access to and from the carpool lanes for carpoolers, vanpools, motorcycles, buses, and solo drivers in permitted clean air vehicles. DARs improve traffic circulation at interchanges by directly connecting surface streets to and from carpool lanes in freeway medians.
Additional Stage 1 improvements include bridge widening and ramp modifications. This stage is estimated to cost approximately $86 million.
