OCEANSIDE–An 83 year-old kayaker was rescued by Life Guards after her boat overturned in the water in the harbor, Oceanside police said today.
According to Life Guards, the woman fell out of her overturned kayak. She was wearing a life vest, but appeared to be unconscious when first responders arrived at the scene. While one of the officers steadied the boat, the other officer swam to the woman and brought her back to the boat. Officers recognized her as a frequent guest of the Oceanside Harbor.
Oceanside Fire paramedics met the Harbor boat at the Fuel Dock to retrieve the woman. She was breathing, semi-conscious, but still unresponsive and was transported to Tri City Medical Center.
