SAN DIEGO–InnerMission Productions will launch their third production of its 2017-18 season with “Ordinary Days.”
This San Diego premiere will be InnerMission’s first musical, written by Adam Gwon, and directed by Matthew Graber, who is making his San Diego directorial debut
“Ordinary Days” begins on July 27, 2018 and plays through August 12 in the Black Box space at Diversionary Theatre.
When Deb loses her most precious possession–the notes to her graduate thesis–she unwittingly starts a chain of events that turns the ordinary days of four New Yorkers into something extraordinary. Told through a series of intricately connected songs and vignettes, “Ordinary Days” is an original musical about growing up and enjoying the view.
“We are thrilled that our first musical will be the San Diego premier of ‘Ordinary Days.’ It’s a story about four lost souls who are brought together by circumstances in the chaos of New York City. It’s a story of finding love and connection despite the odds,” said Carla Nell, artistic director.
“The gorgeous music and lyrics are uplifting, funny, and moving. I know our audiences will be thrilled by this beautiful show, because making beautiful things is more important now than ever,” said Kym Pappas, co-artistic director.
The ensemble cast of this musical features Jamie Channell Guzman as the high-strung “Deb”, Patrick Mayuyu as the lovable optimist “Warren”, Kym Pappas as the conflicted “Claire”, and Brent Roberts as the romantic “Jason”.
The creative team includes Carla Nell and Kym Pappas (Producers), Hazel Friedman (Musical Director and Accompanist), James McCullock (Scenic and Lighting Designer), Jamie Channell Guzman (Costume Designer), Alex Guzman (Sound Designer), Kevin Six (Properties Designer), and Monika Lee (Stage Manager).
