CARLSBAD–Authorities are searching for a man who robbed a paint store Saturday in Carlsbad.

The robbery occurred just after 6 p.m. at Sherman Williams Paint store, located at 7040 Avenida Encinas, according to Carlsbad police.

The caller, a 21-year-old female employee, reported that a Hispanic or white male wearing a black sweatshirt and a ski mask knocked on the rear door of the business at closing time. When the employee answered the door, the man struck the employee on the head with an unknown object. He then forced the victim into the store where he demanded the employee to give him money from the cash registers. The employee gave the cash to the man who fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The employee did not see a weapon during the robbery. The victim sustained no visible injuries from the incident.

The loss to the business was approximately $600 dollars.

Officers searched the area with the assistance of the San Diego Police Department’s air support unit, but were unable to locate the suspect.

A search for the suspect and an investigation into the robbery is ongoing.
