Man Fatally Struck By Train

ENCINITAS–A man Wednesday evening was fatally struck by a southbound Amtrak train, the North Coastal Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit reports.

The collision occurred on the railroad tracks at the intersection of Leucadia Boulevard and Vulcan Avenue in Encinitas. The train was traveling at approximately 90 miles per hour when a male stepped on the railroad tracks in front of the train. The train went into emergency braking, but the train struck the male. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
