SAN DIEGO–The East Village Association is stepping up to the plate again at the 7th annual East Village Opening Weekend Block Party April 7 and 8 in downtown San Diego.

The free, family-friendly community event kicks off from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at J Street between 6th & 10th has become a San Diego tradition where locals and visitors celebrate opening day at Petco Park while exploring East Village-San Diego’s largest livable urban neighborhood.

The 2017 Petco Park season opener ballgame will feature the San Diego Padres as they play host to the San Francisco Giants. Tickets for the ballgame must be purchased separately but whether you make it into the game or not, the Opening Weekend Block Party will be the place to be to show off your team spirit and send our team into a season of success!

“Root, root, root for the home team!” as you rock out to live entertainment from local bands and DJs and “Swing batter, swing!” as you test your skills in the East Village Opening Weekend Block Party’s interactive game zone. A day out to the ballgame would not be complete without creative beverages, so quench your thirst at the micro-brew beer garden featuring local craft beer and baseball-themed cocktails. East Village restaurants and food trucks will line the streets to satisfy your hunger and get you ready for the games!

Bring the kids and get them in the spirit with baseball themed games, jump houses, a rock wall, and other hands on activities. Live music will be playing throughout the day, including a headlining set by San Diego band, Caliber.
