EL CAJON–A “Wings of Rescue” plane carrying more than 65 dogs (and 1 cat) from recently flooded Louisiana is scheduled to arrive at Circle Air Group in El Cajon shortly after 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.

The rescue , known as “Flooded With Love,” is a joint effort of Thrive Animal Rescue, Rancho Coastal Humane Society, Labradors and Friends Rescue, SPOT Rescue, and Animal Samaritans.

The dogs are expected to become available for adoption starting in about one week.

The plane is scheduled to leave Lafayette, LA at 9 Friday morning. After a stop in Texas to re-fuel, arrival in El Cajon is expected between 2 and 2 p.m.

The dogs will be unloaded from the plane then transported to the shelters and foster homes where they will spend the weekend.

Beginning Monday the dogs will receive health and behavior examinations, have vaccinations updated, and be spayed or neutered before being adopted.

Thrive Animal Rescue donors are paying for the flight, and Rancho Coastal Humane Society is handling medical care. Both organizations are accepting donations to help cover the cost of “Flooded With Love.”
