VISTA–Authorities are investigating a hit and run accident in Vista that left a pedestrian in serious injuries, Sheriff’s department said Monday.

The hit and run collision occurred before 8 p.m. at South Santa Fe Avenue and Santa Anita Place, according to traffic investigators.

The pedestrian was crossing South Santa Fe Avenue when he was struck by a black, newer model, Nissan pickup truck. The driver of the Nissan fled the scene northbound on S. Santa Fe Avenue and has not been identified. Paramedics transported the victim to Palomar hospital.

It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the collision.
