SAN DIEGO–Some people love companionship while others prefer the single life, and pets are no different.

Many animals at San Diego Humane Society are single and loving it. The heartbreaking result is these independent animals get overlooked by adopters with more pets at home. In some cases, the time they spend patiently awaiting a home has surpassed one year.

To highlight these deserving single pets, San Diego Humane Society is hosting an adoption promotion under the theme “Looking for Their One & Only” from August 26 to 28 at all campuses and locations.

For this weekend, adoption fees will be waived for all single animals who prefer to be the only pet in the home. Every animal adopted from San Diego Humane Society is spayed/neutered, current on all vaccinations, microchipped, and is sent home with a certificate for a free veterinary exam, 30 days of worry-free pet insurance from Trupanion and his/her first bag of food from Purina.

Today, there are more than 1,300 animals at San Diego Humane Society’s three campuses and satellite adoption centers. Animals that are awaiting adoption can be found on the organization’s website: http://www.sdhumane.org/how-you-can-help/adopt/available-pets

San Diego Humane Society adoption hours are 10am-6pm, seven days a week, at the Oceanside Campus (for dogs), 2905 San Luis Rey Road, (for cats and small animals), 572 Airport Road; Escondido Campus, 3450 E. Valley Parkway, and San Diego Campus, 5500 Gaines Street.
