SAN DIEGO–The County District Attorney’s Office is joining forces in the fight against human trafficking with its support of the 3Strands Global Break Free Run San Diego on October 8, at Tecolote Shores Park North.

Profits from the run support programs dedicated to the prevention, recovery, restoration and reintegration of human trafficking victims. Generate Hope and San Diego Youth Services were among the dozen nonprofits to benefit from the 3Strands Global Break Free Run in 2015.

“Our office is dedicated to raising awareness, helping victims and preventing human trafficking,” said Chief Deputy DA Summer Stephan. “Events such as the Break Free Run do a tremendous community service in educating the public about human trafficking. I encourage anyone who is concerned about this epidemic to lace up their running shoes and participate in this worthwhile event.”

Participants can register to run or walk in the 2nd annual 5K and 10K Break Free Run, which begins at 7:30 a.m. Registration is online at www.3StrandsGlobal.com/SanDiego. Sponsorship opportunities also are available for the event and will close on September 9.

“At 3Strands Global, we believe that it is necessary to raise the level of public awareness of human trafficking to make an impact on this crime,” said Ashlie Bryant, Co-founder and President of 3Strands Global. “The Break Free Run provides an easy way to come out as a community and say ‘Human Trafficking is NOT OK.’”

Sponsors of the 2016 Break Free Run San Diego include the San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force and Mama Bootcamp.
