SAN DIEGO–Clash at Clairemont, Southern California’s Premier Action Sports Fundraising Celebration, is set for Saturday at the YMCA’s Krause Family Skate and Bike Park in America’s Finest City.
The 10th anniversary event features the biggest names in skateboarding and BMX uniting to crush cancer. Clash At Clairemont X will be one for the history books as it will host the debut of Skatercross Skateboard Racing as well.
The full day of action benefits the YMCA’s skatepark as well as Grind for Life, a cancer charity founded by two-time survivor and lifelong skateboarder Mike Rogers. Clash X runs from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. and a $10 donation is required for entrance. Children six and under will be admitted free.
Throughout the day, fans can watch professional skateboarders and BMX riders like Tony Hawk, Ryan Sheckler, Andy Macdonald, Curren Caples, Christian Hosoi, Alex Sorgente, Nora Vasconcellos, Chris Russell, Tom Schaar, Simon Tabron, Mykel Larrin and Vince Byron ripping on the new vert ramp as well as the street course and concrete bowl.
There will also be an autograph session with the pros.
With its $10,000 prize purse, Skatercross Skateboard Racing will be unveiled on the world’s first and only track. The vision of 23-time X Games medalist Andy Macdonald, SSR features multiple riders racing each other at once on a course full of jumps, berms, gaps and hurdles with ample opportunities for passing and crashing. The first skater to cross the finish line wins. The inaugural event will be televised during an hour-long episode of ABC’s “World of X Games” on July 23.
A Clash At Clairemont staple, the 91X Music Stage will again keep the venue rocking. Clash X marks the return of legendary surf punk band Agent Orange, making their third appearance at the event. Also playing bowlside are San Diego ska punkers Buck-O-Nine, while Cubic III will be jamming during the vert ramp demo.
Clash X will also offer up various food and drink options as well as a large vendor village.
In partnership with the YMCA and Grind for Life, Clash at Clairemont X is presented by Geico, GoPro, iFly San Diego, Jack in the Box Foundation, Lifeproof, the United State Marines, MovieTickets.com and Skatercross Skateboard Racing.
