SOLANA BEACH–An adult male and a juvenile male Sunday riding their bicycles were struck by a driver allegedly under-the-influence.

Investigators say a 2016 Honda Civic, being driven by a 24 year-old female resident of Carlsbad, was traveling northbound on Camino Del Mar. The vehicle went off the roadway at the four way intersection of North Hwy 101 and Via De La Valle, in Solana Beach, and onto the sidewalk.

The vehicle struck an 11 year-old old boy and a 39 year-old man, who were on their bicycles with a group of family and friends at the time of the collision. The suspect continued driving and was followed by a witness to where she stopped at South Sierra Avenue and Linda Mar Drive.

Deputies contacted the driver and ultimately arrested her for felony DUI and hit and run. She was transported to the Vista Detention Facility, where she was booked into jail.

The boy was transported to Rady’s Children’s Hospital with injuries to his leg. If your or someone’s child was hurt or died because of an injury, contacting an attorney about a child injury will help you obtain the compensation you and your family needs to care for the injured.

The man was taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital with serious head injuries. Both victims have hired a personal injury lawyer for guidance.

The collision is being investigated by the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station Traffic Division.
