VISTA–A Sprinter train struck a vehicle that was abandoned on the tracks early Sunday morning, Sheriff’s deputies said today.
At approximately 4:37 a.m., the Sprinter was traveling westbound from Escondido to Oceanside when it struck the vehicle in the vicinity of S. Santa Fe and York Drive in Vista. No one was injured as a result of the collision.
Investigators from the Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit are conducting an investigation into the incident.
Sprinter services have been restored and the investigation is continuing.
