Recovered stolen items.
CARLSBAD–Carlsbad police arrested a 44 year-old man staying at a motel and charged him with auto theft, possession of stolen property and identity theft.
Investigators say John Fuller was staying at the motel, located in the 3600 block of Pio Pico Drive, under a stolen identity. During the investigation officers found numerous pieces of stolen property that included unusual items like antique personal photos, medals and an urn with a dog’s ashes. Investigators think the property is probably from a wide area in San Diego.
On May, 6 a Carlsbad police officer was conducting a routine patrol of the motel and found a vehicle with licenses plates that did not match the vehicle and that were later found to be stolen. After further investigation the officer found that the vehicle was stolen from La Jolla the previous weekend.

The investigation into the crimes is ongoing.
