SAN DIEGO–Detectives arrested Saturday a 27 year-old Chula Vista man and charged him with sexual assault of a woman, San Diego police said Sunday.
Police officers arrested Ismael Hernandez in the 700 block of Broadway in Chula Vista. Hernandez was booked into County Jail Chula Vista. Hernandez was booked into County Jail for rape by force, kidnapping, digital penetration by a foreign object, oral copulation by force, three counts of attempt sexual assault, using a dangerous weapon during an assault, criminal threats, and false imprisonment.
Authorities say the victim was walking north in the 1600 block of 8th Avenue towards her vehicle. As she was walking, a man armed with a knife confronted her. He walked her to the south end of Balboa Park and sexually assaulted her. Several times he threatened to stab her with the knife before and during the assault. A witness saw the man flee southbound onto the 1600 block of 9th Avenue.
The case is still on-going. Additional charges maybe sought.
