SAN DIEGO–A male was fatally shot Sunday by two males at a parking lot of Emerald Hills Park, San Diego police says.

At about 5:16 p.m., San Diego police received a  call of gunshots heard in the 5600 block of Bethune Court in San Diego.

Officers arrived and learned from witnesses that a male had been shot and he was driven to a nearby hospital in a private citizen’s vehicle. The male was later taken in an ambulance to another hospital with a trauma center where he died a short time later.

The victim was a 46-year-old black male who was working on a vehicle in the parking lot of Emerald Hills Park. Two black teen males wearing black hoodie sweatshirts and dark pants walked toward the victim and fired multiple gunshots. The victim was struck by gunfire in his upper body. The two teens ran out of the parking lot to Kelton Road where they ran south. A dark Nissan type vehicle was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed, but it is unknown if that vehicle was involved in the murder. Homicide detectives are investigating the case.

The victim’s identity is known, but will not be released pending family notifications.
