MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR–Personnel aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar are scheduled to conduct an exercise designed to rehearse procedures in the case of a base wide lockdown from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on May 3.

The exercise is an opportunity for Miramar personnel, family members, retirees and visitors to practice lockdown procedures in the case of a potential emergency.

All MCAS Miramar entry and exits gates are scheduled to be closed for a temporary period during the exercise. Members of the community may experience a slowing of traffic near MCAS Miramar for a temporary time. Military police will monitor and diligently work with local law enforcement to re-route and mitigate traffic related issues outside the gates.

Military police will also restrict traffic flow on the base and personnel will be subject to military checkpoints during the exercise.

Local residents may hear announcements over the MCAS Miramar speaker system during the exercise.
