SAN DIEGO–An abandoned black suitcase stuffed with a woman’s body parts was found in downtown San Diego Wednesday behind the Core-Columbia hotel, San Diego homicide detectives said today.

At about 11:01 a.m., police officers received a 911 call of a body found in the area of 600 A Street. When police officers arrived, they located an undetermined age/race deceased female along the west side of the street.

The victim’s identity is not known at this time. The County Medical Examiner’s Office will assist in the investigation by performing an autopsy to determine the cause of death and in determining the victim’s identity.

The cause of death is undetermined at this time. The San Diego Homicide Unit is investigating the incident.
