SAN DIEGO–The San Diego Humane Society is reducing adoption fees for all American Pit Bull Terriers and subsequent “mixes” to just $17 for St. Patrick’s Day.

The nominal fee covers an animal’s spay/neuter, current vaccinations, microchip, 30-day complimentary health insurance and certificate for a free veterinary exam.

In addition to encouraging the community to open their homes to animals in need, this adoption promotion also aims to shed light on the wonderful companions that American Pit Bull Terriers can be for a variety of families.

San Diego Humane Society adoption hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week, at the following campus locations: Oceanside Campus, 2905 San Luis Rey Road (dogs), 572 Airport Road (cats and small animals); Escondido Campus, 3450 E. Valley Parkway, and San Diego Campus, 5500 Gaines Street.

There are currently more than 500 animals at San Diego Humane Society’s three campuses and satellite adoption centers. Animals that are awaiting adoption can be found on the organization’s website: http://www.sdhumane.org/how-you-can-help/adopt/available-pets
