SAN DIEGO–A two-vehicle fiery collision on State Route 163 and Interstate 805 Friday sent four people to the hospital.

A 22 year-old Carlsbad man was driving a 2015 Isuzu Box Truck northbound on SR-163 at I-805 when it was rear-ended by a 2013 Ford Focus, driven by an 18 year-old San Diego woman.

As a result of the collision, the truck lost control and collided into the bridge rail on the right shoulder and continued over the side where it caught on fire. Two good Samaritans assisted the driver and a 20 year-old female passenger, of Escondido, from the truck before it became completely engulfed.

The driver and passenger from the truck were transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital with moderate and minor injuries. The female driver and 23 year-old male passenger, from the Ford Focus, were also transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision.  It remains under investigation.
