SAN DIEGO–Workshops for Warriors, a nonprofit assisting veterans who are transitioning into civilian life through training, certification and job placement, hosted its fall graduation ceremony last week.

Held at its educational facility, 46 graduates — the largest graduating class to date — were recognized, enabling them to immediately integrate into large and small manufacturing organizations throughout the U.S.

“We’re the only accredited nonprofit providing veterans with these opportunities. Not only do we offer state-of-the-art equipment, computers and facilities, but most importantly, all training is at no cost to veterans,” said Hernàn Luis y Prado, Founder of Workshops for Warriors. “We’re extremely proud of our graduates and look forward to continuing our 100 percent placement rate.”

Each semester runs 16-weeks and offers students credentials from top industry organizations such as the National Institute for Metalworking Skills, Mastercam University (computer-aided manufacturing), SolidWorks (computer-aided design) and the American Welding Society.

Founded in 2008, Workshops for Warriors provides veterans and wounded warriors with training in CNC machining, CAD/CAM programming, and welding. Since 2011, 238 veterans and wounded warriors have been trained on-site and received close to 600 third-party nationally recognized credentials, with 100 percent of graduates obtaining jobs in advanced manufacturing.

Spring classes begin January 4, 2016. To learn about enrollment or donating to help support the program and its mission, visit https://workshopsforwarriors.org.
