Suspect in attack of San Diego State University Muslim student.

SAN DIEGO–A San Diego State University female Muslim student wearing a headscarf was assaulted at a campus parking lot Thursday afternoon, school officials said Friday.

According to SDSU officials, the student reported being assaulted by an unknown male who pushed her and pulled her scarf while making hate-related comments. The 1:45 p.m. incident occurred in Parking Lot “E.” The victim was not physically injured.

The suspect is described as a white male adult in his 20’s, approximately five feet, eleven inches tall with a thin build. He has dark black hair with hazel or green eyes. He was last seen wearing a grey sweater, blue jeans and white shoes.

There was no vehicle seen during the incident and the man was last seen walking towards Parking Structure 6.

The San Diego office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations say the incident may be related to the backlash against the American Muslim community after the Friday, November 13 terror attacks in Paris.

The SDSU Police Department is investigating incident. If you have any information regarding the identity of the suspect contact the SDSU Police Department at (619) 594-1991.
