Feeding the soulSAN DIEGO–Feeding the Soul Foundation, a local non-profit that creates concerts for causes, released its local line-up for a holly jolly HoliDAZE concert December 20 at the Star Theater in Oceanside.

HoliDAZE will be an evening of holiday festivities hosted by Day Old Johnson and Bushwalla, including the musical stylings of Cody Lovaas, MC Flow and friends.

The show will benefit the Mountain Shadows Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to providing intellectually disabled residents the best possible environment to achieve maximum independence and improve their self-esteem.

“At Feeding the Soul Foundation, we love creative generosity,” said Vallie Gilley, founder of Feeding the Soul Foundation. “The HoliDAZE concert is a fun way to bring some of San Diego’s favorite musicians together to create a fun-filled evening of music and giving back. From acoustic singer-songwriters to free-styling entertainers, this eclectic group elevates one another, bringing their own personalities and talents together for a holiday performance that will rock on stage.”

All proceeds from the HoliDAZE concert will go to the Mountain Shadows Foundation, which provides residents special nursing care needs to fuel the growth of each individual’s abilities by enhancing life, leisure and work skills. Their creative solutions, innovative resources and leading-edge services ensure a caring, safe and comfortable environment that fosters an individual’s independence, integrity and dignity.

“The Mountain Shadows Foundation inspires residents to be their best selves,” said Gilley. “We’re excited to partner with an organization that values self-esteem and independence in a world that doesn’t always provide the space or the tools to do so. Together, Feeding the Soul Foundation and The Mountain Shadows Foundation provide a network of support to the community at large.”

Co-hosts Day Old Johnson and Bushwalla will welcome audience members to an interactive holiday party to entertain, perform and engage the audience while introducing the highly anticipated lineup of featured artists. Singer, songwriter, collaborator, and free-styler, Bushwalla—who has coined a unique blend of acoustic, hip-hop, folk and R&B—will be giving his final performance under the name Bushwalla. His songs have been featured on hit television shows such as Weeds, Revenge, Fuel TV, E!s The Daily 10, and the Rachel Ray Show.

The Feeding the Soul Foundation promotes concerts for causes, bringing community together in creative generosity. The foundation promotes local artists, charities and businesses that make a positive difference by creating events that draw attention and opportunity to their talents and intents. Proceeds of each show benefit a different local, national or global charity. Since its formation in March, 2010, the Feeding the Soul Foundation has donated more than $45,000 to organizations that feed the hungry, empower young women through music, promote environmental responsibility, and free slaves around the world.
