SANTEE–A 41 year-old motorcyclist crashed in the parking lot at Edgemoor Hospital after he led Sheriff’s deputies on a short pursuit in Santee.
Anthony Ortega stood up after he was ejected from his motorcycle, a 2001 Kawasaki, but refused to cooperate with deputies. Ortega was sprayed with OC and a taser was deployed. The deputies were able to subdue Ortega and place him in handcuffs. Ortega complained of pain and was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital to be examined.
A deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the motorcyclist for expired registration in the area of Mast Boulevard and Cuyamaca Street. He sped away rather than yielding to the patrol vehicle. A short pursuit ensued.
He was charged with felony evading, fighting law enforcement and for having a suspended driver’s license.
