SAN DIEGO–Two men are dead and one woman is in critical condition from a triple shooting in a parking lot in San Diego, San Diego police said Sunday.

On Sunday, at 12:18 a.m., police officers responded to a 911 call of gunshots and three people shot in the parking lot located at 5229 El Cajon Boulevard. Officers found two men and a woman inside a parked Nissan sedan. All three suffered from gunshot wounds to the upper body. Officers removed the two men from the vehicle and attempted life-saving measures, but both succumbed from their wounds and were pronounced deceased at the scene. The woman was transported to Mercy Hospital in critical condition. Her condition has been upgraded and her wounds are considered non-life threatening.

The preliminary investigation revealed the three victims and another woman were driving through the parking lot in their vehicle when, for unknown reasons, they suddenly stopped next to a group of black men who were standing near a light pole. Some type of verbal confrontation ensued between the groups and at least one of the male pedestrians walked up to the vehicle and fired several shots at the victims. One of the suspects was wearing a white t-shirt, were last seen running eastbound on El Cajon Boulevard. The second woman was not injured.

The victim’s identities are known, but will not be released pending family notifications.
