SAN DIEGO–A 20 year-old San Diego resident critically injured during an altercation at a party is not expected to live, San Diego police said Saturday.

Police officers responded to UCSD Hospital regarding a male that was admitted to the emergency room with a serious head injury. The victim was in grave condition and is not expected to survive.

Police officers say the 20 year-old victim had been at a party the previous night at a residence in the north alley of 3200 Imperial Avenue. At about 2 a.m., other party guests and friends of the victim heard a fight outside in the alley. When they went outside, the victim was found unconscious in the alley and was taken back to the residence. About 9 a.m., the victim’s friends were unable to wake him and transported the victim to the hospital.

Due to the victims’ prognosis, homicide detectives were called to conduct the investigation into the incident.

No suspect information is available at this time. The victim’s identity is known, but will not be released until family notifications have been made.
