SAN MARCOS–A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while he ran across the road in San Marcos, authorities say.

Friday’s collision occurred, just before 7:30 p.m., on South Rancho Santa Fe Rd. north of the intersection of First Street in San Marcos.

A 33-year-old man was running westbound on South Rancho Santa Fe Road towards the center median, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on S. Rancho Santa Fe Rd. The vehicle, a 1994 Honda Accord, was being driven by a 22-year-old man when the front of the vehicle collided with the pedestrian.

Paramedics transported the pedestrian to Palomar Medical Center. He sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.

Alcohol is not a factor in the collision on the part of the driver.
