Palomar Health extends its warmest appreciation to three outgoing board members, Ted Kleiter, Stephen Yerxa and Bruce Krider for their many years of service on the board.

“Palomar Health is fortunate to have had such great leaders at the helm of our healthcare district,” said Bob Hemker, Palomar Health chief executive officer. “Their commitment to the community has been unprecedented and they have paved the road to success for our new board. I look forward to working with the new and returning board of directors in the coming years to continue to grow and excel for the community we serve.”

Yerxa was appointed to the Palomar Health board of directors in 2010 with more than 35 years of experience in the health care field and has contributed to the continued success of Palomar Health’s strategic initiatives and patient advocacy. Yerxa leaves the board as the current vice-chair.

Krider, the immediate past chair, has lived in the district for 25 years and served as a Palomar Health board of director for 12 years. Throughout his service he has chaired many board committees and was instrumental in the passing of Proposition BB that approved the development of the new Palomar Medical Center.

Kleiter has served the Palomar Health district for more than 50 years and joined the Palomar Health board of directors in 1996. During his tenure on the board, he served in many capacities including chairman for the past

four years. Prior to joining the board, Kleiter worked as the administrator of Palomar Medical Center in Escondido and Executive Vice President of Outreach and Development for Palomar Health.

“Ted Kleiter’s selfless commitment and service to Palomar Health over the past 50 years has been remarkable,” said Hemker. “With his leadership, Palomar Health has achieved many accomplishments that have helped shape the healthcare district. Palomar Health would not be where it is today without the hard work and dedication of Mr. Kleiter.”

Palomar Health’s board of directors are responsible for developing and ensuring the mission and vision statements for Palomar Health are carried out in an effective and ethical manner. This includes accountability for oversight and implementation of policies and monitoring of the organizations performance in establishment of strategic direction, financial stewardship, quality outcomes and leadership of the health care district.
