SAN DIEGO–The San Diego County Employees’ Charitable Organization (CECO) announced today that it is now accepting applications for grants to fund nonprofit organizations in the San Diego region. Based upon recent donation trends, approximately $200,000 will be available to help local nonprofits make San Diego a better place to live, work and play.

CECO has been lending a hand to the local community since 1956 and is funded entirely by donations from County of San Diego and San Diego Superior Court employees and retirees.

In March 2014, CECO distributed $214,000 to support 93 local nonprofit programs throughout San Diego County with grants ranging from $305 to $7,940.

“I encourage local nonprofit organizations serving the health, recreation and human-care needs in the community to apply,” said CECO President Mavette Trinidad Sadile. “CECO wants to lend a hand to the community by way of funding tangible, durable items that support and enhance programs benefiting the diverse communities in the San Diego region.”
