DEL MAR–Deputies were dispatched to assist lifeguards and the fire department on a possible drowning victim with CPR in progress near the 20th Street Lifeguard Tower in Del Mar.

The victim was discovered floating face down by another surfer. The victim was pulled to the shore where lifeguards, fire fighters and paramedics performed lifesaving actions but were unable to revive the victim. The male’s identity was not known at the time of the incident. The Medical Examiner is conducting the follow-up investigation.
