SPRING VALLEY—A homeowner was displaced after a blaze destroyed her Spring Valley mobile home, fire investigators said on Wednesday.

The San Miguel Fire District in cooperation with CAL FIRE responded to the fire at the Carman Ranch Mobile Home Park, located at 2515 Sweetwater Road. When the first of four crews arrived the single-wide mobile home was fully engulfed in flames. It took firefighters 15 minutes to extinquish the flames.

The homeowner told investigators she had just returned home from work, parked the car in the port and went to enter the side door. Once the door was opened, she said gray smoke began to pour out. She slammed the door and went around to the front door. Once she opened that door, she said the living room was fully engulfed. The park manager was just a few feet away and called 9-1-1. No one else lived in the unit.

The homeowner was transported to a local hospital for observation. No other injuries were reported.

Early damage estimates are about $90,000 for loss of structure and contents. Another $10,000 in damage was done to a neighbor’s car, and slight heat damage to some of the home’s siding.

The Sheriff Department’s Bomb and Arson team is investigating the incident.
