EL CAJON–The City of El Cajon Veterans’ Commission is joining forces with Team AMVETS in presenting a Suicide Prevention Seminar on March 18, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Renette Recreation Center, 935 Emerald Avenue.

Team AMVETS members across the state of California have been spearheading the effort to reach out to veterans and the public to inform them of the Suicide Prevention Seminar and Hotline offered to our veterans. “If one veteran commits suicide, that is too many,” says Tom Dowan, Team AMVETS Suicide Prevention Program Chair. “Team AMVETS wants every veteran to know that “We Got Your Back” and encourage every veteran in distress to use the Suicide Hotline.” The Veterans’ Crisis Line is 1-800-273-8255 (Press 1).

There are five Veteran Service Organizations, 501(c) 19, in the City of El Cajon. They are: The American Legion, AMVETS, Fleet Reserve Association, Marine Corps League Detachment, and the VFW. Members of all Veteran Service Organizations, their family members, and friends are all encouraged to attend the seminar.

Team AMVETS encourages those that may know a veteran, or are a veteran, to attend this seminar to receive education, assistance and support. Attendance is free and open to the general public. Pre-registration is not required, however, seating is limited. RSVP by calling Susie Lowe at the Renette Recreation Center (619) 441-1555.
