ALPINE–A feud between two neighbors left one man fatally shot by his neighbor, Sheriff’s deputies said today.

On Sunday, at about 4:10 p.m., Leland Clyde, 73, got into an argument with his neighbor, Jock Martin,56, in the Ma Tar Awa Campground in Alpine. During the argument Clyde produced a shotgun and shot Martin. Clyde went back into his trailer and retrieved more shotgun rounds. Martin’s brother came out of his trailer after hearing the shots and Clyde pointed the shotgun at him. The brother ran away and called for help.

A Sheriff’s ASTREA helicopter arrived on scene and ordered Clyde to the ground over the public address system. Patrol deputies arrived on scene and Martin was pronounced dead. Clyde was taken into custody on suspicion of murder.
