SACRAMENTO–Delegates to the California Republican Party 2013 Spring Convention voted overwhelmingly today to elect former Senate Republican Leader Jim Brulte as state Chairman.
Brulte, who served as Republican Leader from 2000-2004, promised to better connect with Californian voters and to make the party more competitive in the upcoming elections.
“Our commitment is to work as hard as you do to elect Republicans in each and every community in California,” said the newly-elected Chairman Brulte in his acceptance speech.
Current San Francisco County Republican Party Chairman Harmeet Dhillon was also elected to the post of CRP Vice-Chairman. Dhillon is the first woman in California Republican Party history to serve in the post. In the other statewide races, Patricia Welch and Mike Osborn were re-elected as California Republican Party Secretary and Treasurer, respectively, by unanimous acclamation.
Additionally, five Regional Vice Chairs were elected on Saturday, March 2. The state party’s new Regional Vice Chairs are: Greg Gandrud, Central Coast; Marcelino Valdez, Central Valley; Armor Zeiderman, North; Elissa Wadleigh, Northwest; and Kevin Krick, Bay Area.
Over 1300 delegates and guests attended the state convention in Sacramento this weekend. The California Republican Party Fall 2013 Convention will be held October 4 to 6, 2013 at Hilton Anaheim Hotel in Anaheim, CA.
