SAN YSIDRO–Casa Familiar’s The Front will present its 5th annual Dia de la Mujer Art Exhibition: Mujer: The Force Within today in San Ysidro.
The event will feature a juried art exhibit. This year’s jurors, Gwen Gomez, Larry Baza and Ava Ordorica, selected the exhibition winners from a group of 30 talented artists. The first, second and third place winners and honorable mentions will be revealed at tonight’s opening reception. New this year, is the People’s Choice Award. Guests at the opening reception will be able to cast their vote for their favorite artwork.
The celebration also includes beats by The Roots Factory’s own, DJ Ana Brown, as well as a crafts marketplace where guests can purchase hand-made jewelry, clothing and various crafts. Hungry guests can purchase delicious traditional Mexican-style taquera, tacos, quesadillas and aguas frescas, or an ice cold brew from The Stone Brewery.
This year’s celebration will be held March 8 from 6 to 11 p.m. at Casa Familiar’s The Front: A Collaborative of Art, Culture, Design and Urbanism, located at 147 W. San Ysidro Blvd in San Ysidro. Admission is free.
Free parking will be available on a lot located in the corner of Blanche and Cypress, behind The Front.
