Sheriff’s Deputies find marijuana plants inside home

VALLEY CENTER–Valley Center Sheriff’s deputies investigating Tuesday afternoon a male beating a dog at a residence found grown marijuana plants inside the residence.

Deputies arrived at the location to assist Animal Control officers in investigating the dog beating near the 11900 block of Key Creek Road in Valley Center.

Animal Control officers remembered the residence was the location of a recent home invasion robbery and knew there were weapons inside the house.

Deputies, assisting Animal Control officers, were checking outside of the residence for the male when they noticed grown marijuana plants inside the residence. They called for additional assistance to help secure the residence because of the rural nature of the property. After the residence was secured, patrol deputies called the Narcotics Task Force (NTF) for assistance with the marijuana plants.

Investigators obtained a search warrant and found over 100 marijuana plants, an indoor irrigation system, grow lighting and other equipment for growing and cultivating marijuana. The street value of the plants when fully mature is about $300,000. There was also about $20,000 in growing equipment in the residence.

Detectives said four suspects were detained at the residents pending further investigation.
