SAN DIEGO–Caltrans crews will start repaving sections of State Route 76 (SR-76), east of Interstate 15 (I-15), that will create traffic delays of up to 40 minutes in both directions weekdays for the next two weeks.

One-way traffic control will be enforced from Pala Mission Road to just east of Valley Center Road.

Construction will start Friday and continue weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through to the week of Dec. 21, weather permitting.  The lengthy delay is because the material to pave the highway is delivered by trucks that are too large to turn around within the work zone. There are no truck or auto detours within the area.  Motorists should allow plenty of extra time to reach their destination. Traffic coming from the west going east has backed up to the SR-76/I-15 Interchange during previous one-way traffic operations in this area.   Traffic coming from the east going west has back up to Lake Henshaw.

The work is needed to extend the life of the pavement.  A slurry was placed on the pavement several weeks ago and the final pavement is needed to complete the project.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol will be placed at both ends of the project to prevent motorists from going around the closure.
